History, passion, and food!!!

Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is defined by quirky art and architecture, imaginative food and vibrant street life. It has medieval roots, seen in the mazelike Gothic Quarter, but a modernist personality represented by architect Antoni Gaudí’s fantastical Sagrada Família church. Its restaurant scene, anchored by the central Boqueria market, ranges from fine dining to tiny tapas bars.
Construction of Sagrada Família had commenced in 1882 and Gaudí became involved in 1883,  taking over the project and transforming it with his architectural and engineering style, combining Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms. Gaudí devoted his last years to the project, and at the time of his death at age 73 in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete. Sagrada Família’s construction progressed slowly, as it relied on private donations and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War, only to resume intermittent progress in the 1950s. Construction passed the midpoint in 2010 with some of the project’s greatest challenges remaining  and an anticipated completion date of 2026, the centenary of Gaudí’s death.
Barcelona is one of the most supported teams in the world, and has the largest social media following in the world among sports teams.  Barcelona’s players have won a record number of Ballon d’Or awards (10), as well as a record number of FIFA World Player of the Year awards. In 2010, the club created history when three players who came through its youth academy (Messi, Iniesta and Xavi) were chosen as the three best players in the world in the FIFA Ballon d’Or awards, an unprecedented feat for players from the same football school.
Barceloneta is the first of the Barcelona beaches and can therefore get quite busy during the summer months. The picture of Barceloneta beach above was taken on 3rd of October, and the sun is still shining! But it’s not always like this. Some days can be overcast or even rainy.
There are plenty of things to do on the beach besides swim. Windsurfing and kite surfing are popular. You can also enjoy a refreshing drink from one of the many beach huts. Or, if you’re in need of a rest, just lie down and soak up the warmth of the Spanish sun with a good book.
Paella is a Valencian rice dish with ancient roots that originated in its modern form in the mid-19th century near the Albufera lagoon, a coastal lagoon in Valencia, on the east coast of Spain.
Put down all the worries and let’s go experience Spain!  Bon Voyage.

If you were given the opportunity to go to travel, where do you want to go?

If the opportunity to travel is given to me, I want to go to Morocco.  Beautiful sea and rich culture, a place where old and new exchanges….

moroco3moroco4 Morocco is officially the Kingdom of Morocco, is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Geographically, Morocco is characterized by a rugged mountainous interior and large portions of desert. It is one of only three countries  The area of present-day Morocco has been inhabited since Paleolithic times, sometime between 190,000 and 90,000 BC.  During the Upper Paleolithic, the Maghreb was more fertile than it is today, resembling a savanna more than today’s arid landscape. 22,000 years ago, the Aterian was succeeded by the Iberomaurusian culture, which shared similarities with Iberian cultures. Skeletal similarities have been suggested between the Iberomaurusian “Mechta-Afalou” burials and European Cro-Magnon remains. The Iberomaurusian was succeeded by the Beaker culture in Morocco.

Situated at the foot of the Atlas mountains, the imperial city of Marrakech is large, noisy, polluted and smelly. But Marrakech is also fascinating, full of history, the cultural center of Morocco and beautiful. If you enjoy a daily assault on all your senses then you’ll have a lot of fun. When the most popular sights include numerous references to “tranquility” and “peace” like the Majorelle gardens or the gardens around the Saadian Tombs you know you’re in for an interesting experience.

Fes (Fez) is Morocco’s oldest Imperial city and its “old town” is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Medina (old town) is calledFes el-Bali and behind its high walls is a magical, medieval city just teeming with life in every one of its 9000 narrow streets. Fes is the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco and you’ll certainly experience its vibrancy.

The new part of Fes, called ville nouvelle, was built by the French and is totally different from the medina. The wide boulevards are lined with modern shops and traffic is hectic.

This Essaouira travel guide highlights how to get to Essaouira, where to stay, best time to visit, and what to see.

Essaouira is a laid back coastal town that offers travelers a nice break from the hubbub of Marrakechwhich is just a few hours away. Visitors to Essaouira are attracted to its beaches, fresh seafood and medina.

Essaouira’s biggest attraction may be its relaxing atmosphere. It’s not a big town, and being a beach place it has a holiday feel about it. Essaouira is very much a working port and a fishing town.

Sleepless in Seattle and Coffee

Seattle! In addition to the Statue of Lenin in Fremont, the tomb of Bruce Lee, the overwhelmingly liberal political views, and of course its grunge music, Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks, which could be seen in almost every block of Seattle and its suburb cities. People say that Seattleites developed their love for coffee, because of the cloudy and rainy weather. Although Seattle has one of the best summers in the nation, only small showers can be seen during the other seasons. It is definitely a misconception that Seattle has a high precipitation, because one research shows that Seattle ranks 44th among major U.S cities in regards to annual inches of rain. (Houston, Texas even has a higher precipitation than Seattle.) On the other hand, Seattle has a higher amount of days with precipitation.

Due to the large number of days with rain in Seattle, tourists will see locals of Seattle with a tumbler. Coffee in Seattle replaces water. (Even at this late hour, I am writing this post while drinking coffee.) This naturally created a culture of coffee in Seattle. Also being the birthplace of the Starbucks, Seattle’s Best Coffee (which is currently owned by Starbucks), and Tully’s Coffee, Seattleites spend an average of $36 on coffee according to a study. Also it showed that there are approximately 35 coffeehouses per 100,000 residents. Along with these chains, there are many other individual coffeehouses that produces its own taste. It is even said that many baristas often visit Seattle’s coffeehouses to study.

Baristas in Seattle also experimented with coffee. Latte art, an artistic method of preparing coffee by pouring milk on the espresso, begun in Seattle by a barista named David Schomer. Espresso Vivace, a coffeehouse owned by David Schomer, is still visited by many baristas from around the world.

After learning, where I am from, many people tell me about their fantasy of being sleepless in Seattle with their cup of coffee as they ponder about something great. Yes, nowadays, Seattle is filled with international corporations and companies that represent Seattle. With the research of University of Washington and these companies, Seattle is leading the field in science and technology. Of course, these innovations came from a cup of brilliance, but it could have been coffee that stayed with the people all night.
